Worship, Sacraments, and Safety

The Mycelian church considers psilocybin a sacrament because it brings us closer to God during times of worship and in our everyday lives. Used in moderate amounts, psilocybin is singularly unique in its capacity to regulate our perspective towards God’s will for us. that is, not act like an asshole.

That being said, it is incumbent upon every member of the Mycelian Church to act responsibly when using sacrament. If you use sacrament in excess, you may start acting like an asshole, which defeats the whole purpose. The use of psilocybin as a sacrament requires moderation, finding the right amount that summons forth the best in you, not the asshole out of you.

Furthermore, as wonderful as psilocybin can be, it it’s not for everybody. Some people can have a poor or neglible experience with it, while others probably shouldn’t go there in the first place.

People who are on anti-depressants, particularly SSRIs, likely should not take
psilocybin. This is because the serotonin receptors that would be stimulated
by the psilocybin are already being stimulated by the SSRI. Either the psilocybin
will not have much of an effect OR you could overstimulate these recepetors,
causing a temporary, but substantial depression.

People that are on any anti-psychiatric regimen involving pharmaceuticals or who have a history with psychiatric care should ask their therapist or physician if psilocybin use is safe for them before using.

For more information on the topic of psilocybin, worship, and safety, please read our pamphlette A Guide To Psilocybin located on our Church Literature page.

As a final reminder, please use psilocybin with moderation. When used properly, it can make you life better. But like every other thing in this world: abuse it and you gonna lose it.
